Week 9 - Day 2

Deuteronomy 19-22; Psalm 48

*Click here to read these passages:

“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

I know this is talking about the Israelites actually going to war, but today it got me thinking about who our enemy is today as Christians.  1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Then I looked at the verse from Deuteronomy again in light of that… For the Lord my God is the one who goes with me to fight for me against the enemy to give me victory.

Several times in the Psalms God is described as our refuge or as our fortress.

Refuge – Something providing shelter from pursuit, danger, or trouble
Fortress – A heavily protected and impenetrable building; a stronghold

Putting all my faith, hope, and trust in my God, my refuge, my mighty fortress!
