Numbers
27-29; Psalm 40
*Click here to read these passages:
“I
waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out
of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to
stand. He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.”
Every
once in a while our church will do worship nights, which are special events
devoted completely to worship.
This special event is called “Because.” The last time we did this the whole day leading up to the
worship night people got on Facebook and twitter and would put, “I worship God
because….” and filled in the blank with their reasons. It was so awesome to read through
everyone’s “because.”
When
I take a moment to remember the many things God has done for me, it quickly
helps put everything else – any worries, fears, frustrations - into
perspective. The Psalm did that
for me today. I was reminded of
all the times He has turned to me and heard my cry, how he lifted me out of
darkness and gave me strength.
When I focus on what He’s done, everything else quickly fades away, and
all that is left is what really matters.
Psalm
40 also challenged me today not to hide or conceal His love and truth; not to
seal my lips, but to proclaim His righteousness…to share my “because.”
I
believe in Him because….
I
worship Him because….
“Always
be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for
the hope that you have.” (1 Peter 3:15)
