Exodus
27-30; Psalm 21
*Click here to read these passages:
“They
will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I
might dwell among them. I am the
Lord their God.”
Once
again, reading through the detailed descriptions for the different garments and
all the different types of offerings can be a little confusing and not
necessarily the most exciting.
However, it shows God’s desire to be near His people as well as His
desire for our worship. It also
reminded me of just how holy God is.
Man is so sinful and God so holy that coming into His presence would
cause man to die. All these
extravagant measures and offerings had to take place to come near to God.
We
also get a little glimpse of what the glory of heaven will be like. Hebrews 9 says that this was a man-made
sanctuary that was only a copy of the true heavenly one. It says that Jesus did not enter a
man-made sanctuary but heaven itself, and appeared for us in God’s
presence. “The law requires that
nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there
is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22)
Jesus Christ appeared “to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
(Hebrews 9:26)
