Genesis
41-43; Psalm 12
*Click here to read these passages:
I
love the answer Joseph gives Pharaoh when he asks him to interpret his dream,
“I cannot do it, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Joseph knew that God had given him the
gift to interpret dreams, and he easily could have been prideful about that and
taken the credit and glory for it.
Instead, he immediately points Pharaoh to God – no I can’t, but God
can.
I
also love looking back through Joseph’s story as someone who knows how the
story goes, realizing that Joseph did not
know how everything was going to turn out. He got sold as a slave by his own brothers, but it says,
“The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered.” Then he gets sent to prison for something he didn’t do. “But while Joseph was there in the
prison, the Lord was with him.”
Then he finally ends up second in command in Egypt.
Bad
things kept happening to Joseph, but God was with him through it all. It all led to where God wanted Joseph
to be. It was just a rough road
along the way. Yet another
reminder that God holds the big picture and is with us every crazy step of the
way.
