1 Chronicles 7-10; Psalm 100
*Click here to read these passages:
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful songs.” (Psalm
100:1-2)
Reading this short psalm today reminded me of some teaching from
my pastor, Bret Nicholson, from a long time ago. He used the Psalms in teaching about worship. There are plenty of psalms like this
one … shout for joy, worship with gladness, with joyful songs. But then there are also plenty psalms
that are from a different place … things like how long will you be silent O
Lord, I feel as if I am drowning, my soul is downcast within me.
Today, if I’m being honest, is not one of those shout for joy and
gladness type of days. But that is
okay. I don’t have to try to fix
myself up before I come to the Lord; I can come to Him where I am.
When I do, He always shows up. He reminds me of all He’s done and brings the hope of all He’s
going to do. Soon I’m praising
Him, and praise brings perspective to my problems.
“Know that the Lord is God.
It is He who made me, and I am His.”
