2 Kings 22-25

Just this week I came across a picture someone had posted of a
woman with her mouth taped shut with a verse from 1Timothy about women being
silent (taken out of context by the way) with the comment “I’ve never
understood why a woman would want to be a Christian.”
There are so many examples in the Bible that prove that this idea
is far from the truth. Jesus was
the one to give women value in a culture where they had none. There are many great women in the Bible
who were great leaders. I loved
reading an example of this very thing today in the prophetess Huldah.
A prophetess was, like a prophet, called by God and was a
mouthpiece for God. The High
Priest and the officials of Judah at this time went to seek out Huldah to hear
from the Lord. God gave her a
message for the king as to his future and that of Judah’s. As a believer and as a woman ~ I think
that is pretty awesome!
I was also impressed by the leadership of Josiah at the age of
26. Josiah was known as the
incomparable reformer because he led the biggest reformation Judah had
seen. There is an entire chapter
about how Josiah tried to rid the city of evil and turn the people back to the
Lord. He even destroyed the high
places, which the prior kings, who had done what was right in the eyes of the
Lord, failed to do.
Men, women, young, old … it doesn’t matter. God works through those who trust in
Him.
