Jeremiah 24-26; Psalm 119:113-120
In
Jeremiah chapter 24 God uses the picture of good and bad fruit to show Jeremiah
what will happen to God’s people.
God said that there was a group that were exiled (they were being punished
by God for not following His ways) that He was going to bring back. “They’ll be my people, and I’ll be
their God, for they’ll have returned to me with all their hearts.”
He
knew they were going to turn back to Him, so even though they were being
punished, it wasn’t going to last forever. The ones who were not ever going to turn to Him, however,
would not get to go back home.
Jeremiah
25:30 says, “God roars like a lion from high heaven; thunder rolls out from his
holy dwelling – Ear-splitting bellows against His people…”
I
love The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,
the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and I love when Lucy first learns of Aslan,
the lion.
“Then,
he isn’t safe?” asked Lucy.
“Safe?”
said Mr. Beaver. “Who said
anything about safe? ‘Course he
isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
God
is to be feared. He is strong and
powerful and just. But He’s
good. He’s the King, I tell you.
