Week 28 - Day 1

Isaiah 39-41

*Click here to read these passages:

“Who has scooped up the ocean in his two hands, or measured the sky between his thumb and little finger?” (40:12)
“Look at the night skies: Who do you think made all this?  Who marches this army of stars out each night, counts them off, calls each by name – so magnificent! so powerful! – And never overlooks a single one?
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or whine, O Israel, saying, “God has lost track of me.  He doesn’t care what happens to me?
Don’t you know anything?  Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go.  God lasts.
He’s creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything inside and out.” (40:26-28)

Our God who is so big and knows even the stars by name, knows my name!  God who can hold the oceans in His hands, holds me in His hands!  He knows everything about me, even the number of hairs on my head.  He knew me before I was even born.  The creator of the universe knows me and loves me.  And He’s not going anywhere.  He’s always there … He’s always there for me.

“He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.  For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall.  But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.  They spread their wings like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.” (40:29-31)

A friend of mine who has become somewhat of a prayer partner often takes scriptures and personalizes them for me when she prays for me.  I love that, and I encourage anyone reading this to do it too.  Read the scripture as if God is saying it directly to you … because He is!

He says, “I’ll give you energy when you get tired and strength when you are weak.  Even when you want to quit or if you mess things up, if you wait on me and trust in me, I’ll give you fresh strength.  There is not a star in the sky I have overlooked … I’m not going to overlook you.”
