Week 10 - Day 5

Joshua 15-19; Psalm 56
(By the way, unless you really want to study the land divisions of the tribes of Israel, I think it is fine to skim through the descriptions of allotments and all the town and village names.)

*Click here to read these passages:

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.  In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.”

I have to admit that I have been known as a worrier.  I do think it is okay to be afraid at times.  After all, God knew that Joshua would be afraid and helped prepare him for that.  But the problem comes when I continue to be afraid and worry instead of trusting God.

I wonder if it is insulting to God when I keep worrying about things.  There are a few verses that are coming to mind today.  First of all, when God said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s arm too short?”  And the verse from Psalm 55 from yesterday’s reading that said, “God is enthroned forever.”  And finally, from today’s reading, “By this I will know that God is for me.”

It is like He’s asking me, “Aren’t I still on the throne?  Don’t you know that I’ve got this?  Don’t you realize that I’m for you?”
