Job 15-17
After reading chapter 15, which is the second speech Eliphaz has
given, I thought about how tired Job must have been. I imagine he had to have been just completely worn out from
everything and pretty fed up with these speeches from his friends.
Then I read the first verse from chapter 16 when Job replies, “I
have heard many things like these; miserable comforters are you all! Will your long-winded speeches never
end?”
Eliphaz did not approve of Job expressing his feelings, such as
anger and disappointment. Job reminds
me of David’s writings and prayers in the Psalms. He does not hide from God what is going on in his heart …
God knows his heart anyway. It is
better to go to God with what you are struggling with rather than pretending to
be in a different place than you really are. It is also better than hardening your heart and turning away
from God altogether.
God knows that we will experience hardships, and He knows that we
are not always going to understand.
When we come to Him with our frustrations, He can continue to mold our
hearts, He can help guide our thoughts, He can bring peace and hope. He comes closer.
