1 Kings 10-11; Psalm 87
*Click here to read these passages:
“I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no
pleasure. Yet when I surveyed all
that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was
meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
Ecclesiastes 2:10a, 11 (Solomon’s writing)
“Meaningless!
Meaningless! Utterly
meaningless! Everything is
meaningless." Ecclesiastes 1:2.
God blessed Solomon with great wisdom; people from all over would
come seeking his wisdom. But I
guess Solomon didn’t trust in God’s wisdom for the decisions he made in his own
life. He disobeyed God’s command
in several areas of his life, one of which was taking so many wives, ultimately
pulling him away from God and even into worshiping foreign idols.
