2 Samuel 20-21; Psalm 82
*Click here to read these passages:
“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;
maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Recue the weak and needy;
Deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
(Psalm 82:3-4)
The challenged I received: be intentional. My pastor, Bret Nicholson, this week
said that the most high-impact people are intentional about everything they
do. They decide what they are
going to do and then follow through.
The things in these verses from Psalm 82 are very important to
God; they are talked about throughout the Bible. Jesus was all about these things. As I read this I can nod my head in agreement and think to
myself, yes, we as Christians need to do these things. And I might possibly have opportunities
come my way. But instead of
waiting for chances to fall in my lap, or even just nodding in agreement in the
comfort of my home, what can I intentionally do to: defend the fatherless,
maintain the rights of the oppressed, to rescue the weak? What can I decide to do starting now
that will make an impact?
Thinking and praying about the answer to that question….
