**As we are finishing up the book of Jeremiah this week, it will only be a 5-day week for the reading plan. If you could share a reflection or something God has been teaching you lately, I would love to post some as our Day 6 this week! Just email me at ejmushlock@gmail.com **
Jeremiah 47-48; Psalm 119:161-168
Jeremiah 47-48; Psalm 119:161-168

There are two things that these chapters from Jeremiah
reveal to me about God’s character: Once again, God is powerful. How quickly He can destroy an entire
nation! And God is personal. He is not some tyrannical dictator who
rules and never knows or cares about the people below Him. He is a Father who knows and loves us.
“But I will weep for Moab, yes, I will mourn for the people
of Moab. I will even mourn for the
people of Kir-heres. I’ll weep for
the grapevines of Sibmah and join Jazer in her weeping.” (48:31)
“My heart moans for Moab, for the men of Kir-heres, like
soft flute sounds carried by the wind.” (48:36)
Again, as I’ve said before, I see God as that parent figure dealing with punishing children. It is the whole deal of – “This hurts me more than it hurts you.”
He takes it personally when people don’t choose to follow Him. He takes it personally when someone hurts someone else. He loves the world so much. He doesn’t rejoice in punishing; He rejoices in restoration.
