Mark 4-6; Proverbs 10
*Click here to read these passages:
“They were in absolute awe, staggered. Who is this, anyway?” they asked.
(Mark 4:41)
Who is this Jesus who even the wind and waves obey, who heals the
sick, casts out demons that know and fear Him, who feeds a multitude, walks on
water, and even raises the dead?
These chapters are packed with impossible miracles that Jesus performed
leaving people stunned and amazed.
The story that captured my heart today was of Jairus, a synagogue
ruler who sought out Jesus to help his only daughter who was sick and
dying. He was a desperate parent
wanting to save his child. So
Jesus went with him to go to his daughter, but on the way someone from the
house of Jairus came to tell him that his daughter had died and not to bother
Jesus anymore.
Jesus ignored what they said and his response to Jairus keeps
echoing in my heart and mind … these 5 words: “Don’t be afraid; just
believe.” Don’t be afraid …. Just
believe ...
Jairus had faith that Jesus could come and heal his daughter, but
then reality hit. His daughter had
died. What could Jesus do
now? The reality for the disciples
caught in the storm was they were being overcome by the waves and were going to
drown. The reality when the day
was late and the crowd needed to eat was that there was not enough food. Our current reality does not faze
Jesus. He ignores the negativity
and says, “Don’t be afraid. Just
believe.”
